For existing door configuration: The backset should be either 2-3/8'' or 2-3/4''. The distance from the hole center of exterior handle latch to bottom screw should be in between 7-11/16'' and 8-13/16''.

It depends on the thickness of the door. It is ok if your door is 1-3/8" thick or 1-3/4" thick. Can I lock the door without using the key when I leave the house?
